Q: What is Major League Pack Battles?
A: Major League Pack Battles (or MLPB) is a Pokemon Trading Card Game pack battle league founded in August 16, 2015 by TeamBoosterBreak where 32 teams battle using three booster packs through eight weeks and the playoffs to determine the Champion.
Q: Why make a league that's 100% luck-based?
A: There IS skill involved in the MLPB and that's where the Competitive Pick comes in.
Q: What's a Competitive Pick?
A: A Competitive Pick is a card from a set that a player chooses to receive boosted point value(s) if they pull it from their three booster packs. If multiple Competitive Pick cards are pulled, they all count.
Q: How does the scoring work in the MLPB?
A: ►Standard Scoring System:
Reverse Rare = 1 Point
Holo = 2 Points
BREAK / EX / GX = 3 Points
Full Art = 4 Points
Secret Rare = 5 Points
►Competitive Pick Scoring System:
Common = 1 Point
Uncommon = 2 Points
Rare = 3 Points
Holo = 4 Points
BREAK / EX / GX = 5 Points
Full Art = 6 Points
Secret Rare = 7 Points
Q: What if there's a tie?
A: If there’s a tie, the winner is decided in this order:
Condition 1 - Highest Card Value Battle! (e.g. if Player A pulls a Full Art and Player B pulls 2 holos, Player A wins since they pulled the card with the highest value.)
Condition 2 - Sudden death typing battle! (e.g. if Player A and Player B both pull a Full Art, the player whose card owns the typing advantage wins. Let’s say Houndoom EX vs Glalie EX, the person who pulled Glalie EX wins, since Houndoom EX has a Water-type weakness. If it’s a Pokemon vs. Supporter battle, the Pokemon automatically wins.)
Condition 3 - Sudden death HP battle! (If there’s no winner via typing advantage, we go to HP battle! This one’s obvious, the Pokemon with the highest HP wins. If it’s a Pokemon vs. Supporter battle, the Pokemon automatically wins.)
NOTE: If both players for some reason scored 0 points, then they'll use the non-holo Rare card they pulled from their final pack and go through Conditions 2 and 3.
